In Remembrance November 08, 3:56 p.m. Today as we look to Heaven above The sky so blue and so vast God give us each day the strength of Your love And keep close in hearts the treasures of the past To each family we pray God let them know how much we care We shall remember every day These Brave Heroes who lived life without a dare Five lives more precious than gold And as beautiful as the world that they love Their love of the forests and mankind we are told Silent prayers we send - as sweet as the flight of a dove

Re: e-Bay Community Counts Promo ~ The community that holds the most points between Nov 1st and Nov 21st will be awarded $10,000 to a non-profit of choice ... I was thinking it could go to the Esperanza FF Fund...IF this community had the most points. Pts are given for using e-Bay in buying, selling, using any of their workshop forums and even for bidding. Well, if anyone is doing so anyway, the points could be earned for this community to hopefully win. NYC already has racked up the lead with 11 thousand points. Please view the link for the details. IMPORTANT - HERE'S A WAY WE CAN HELP! November 04, 07:24 a.m. According to a news broadcast on KESQ, Mark Loutzenhiser was in the process of adding on to his families home in Idyllwild when he was killed in the Esperanza fire. The community is rallying together to finish this project as Mark leaves behind five (5) children currently living in a 2 bedroom, 1 bath home. Here is information from the KESQ website on who to contact to help finish Mark's dream of a better life for his family: "The Idyllwild community is gathering to finish building the home of firefighter Mark Loutzenhiser, who was killed in the Esperanza Wildfire. If you want to help the Idyllwild family build the home that Mark was trying to finish before he died, or if you can donate money or building materials, call Pat Boss at the U.S. Forest Service. The number is 909-382-2922" Get the word out and let's help Mark's family during their time of need. What better way can we honor Mark's memory then by taking care of his family after he gave his life taking care of other people's families?

JASON MCKAY, ONE GREAT PERSON November 03, 11:53 p.m. STACI BURGERS FAMILY HAS BEEN CLOSE TO MY FAMILY FOR A LONG TIME. STACI AND JASON WAS TRUELY A MATCH MADE IN HEAVIN. Jason McKay, lived and died a hero! November 03, 08:17 a.m. Staci Burger was Jason McKays girlfriend and happens to be my niece. They had dated about a year and it never ceased to amaze me how incredible this guy was. He lived his life for others and was without a doubt an everyday hero! I lost a baby in October and Jason sent me a beautiful floral arrangement without anyone else even knowing. There are countless stories of his generosity to anyone he came in contact with. Jason, I would give anything to see your beautiful smile again and see you loving my niece the way you did. Jason was a gentleman and treated Staci like a princess. Every family member couldn't ask for anyone better for Staci. Jason, you will never, ever be forgotten and we as a family will take care of your Staci for you! We love you Jason!

To The Family of Pablo Cerda November 03, 06:27 a.m. It is clear now where Pablo learned his love for community, his commitment to protect and serve, and his willingness to sacrifice. My heart aches to think of the painful decision you had to make and cries out at the injustice that you were ever faced with the necessity of it. Please know that our prayers are with you. We watched you gather as a tightly knit family to support Pablo and each other and hope that you know that we were gathered there with you. Your beloved Pablo has become a member of our families too, as have all the brave firefighters who gave so much. Please let us know how you feel we can best honor his life and memory. We want to help but don't always know the best way to do so and would welcome the chance to support the efforts you to know to be of benefit. God Bless and keep you all - a Brave, Loving and Giving Family who has made the ultimate sacrifice for those you may never know or even meet. We are humbled.

A Poem for the Firefighters November 02, 3:04 p.m. In the silence of your slumber, There's a low-lit burning fuse. Your journey now is over. And you've paid your final dues. Your sun will now be setting, From a veiw I cannot see. A prism of crystal colors, That play a beautiful symphony. You'll finely have the option, to soar on the eagle's wing. To fly from near the mountain tops, Down to the nearest stream. No more burdens from this life, You'll not find them around. You'll finely be free, Of the chains that held you down. And I won't hold you back, Being selfish with my tears. By dwelling on the life, That you had when you were here. So with unconditioned love, I send with thee my friends, And I'll hold memories dear, Until we met again!

Reward Works November 02, 2:56 p.m. At a time of sorrow for the brave firefighters and their families credit Riverside County and private individuals like Tim/Edra Blixeth for offering a $500,000 reward for the arsonist. Thanks also to Sheriff Bob Doyle and his deputies for their fine investigative work. These families need and deserve justice.

To the Family of Pablo Cerda October 31, 9:49 p.m. It was very heartbreaking to send condolences to the families of the four firefighters who lost their lives battling this herendous fire. It saddens me once again to send condolences to the family of Pablo Cerda. I join my family in sending you are deepest sympathies on your loss. As I have mentioned previously, being the mom of a firefighter, I truly know the feeling and have the understanding of what it's like when our loved ones who risk their lives for us every day have to go out and battle these fires. May the love and support of your family and friends help all of you cope through this most difficult time. Our thoughts are with you.

We Will Miss You All! October 31, 4:03 p.m. There are no words to describe, when I heard of this tragedy. I know that you are now resting with God himself. Watching this unfold on every major televison network was simply unimmaginable. My friend Mark Loutsenhiser, I will miss you.

Wildland Firefighters Foundation October 31, 2:38 p.m. Thanks to Fred Mason's info...I joined WFF's 52 Club. And since I joined last night, another 23 have also. It costs $52.00 annually. In the event of injuries or even death of a firefighter, they help to support the injured with medical expenses and the families of the injured or fallen. Many of their members are firefighters/forest service/heliotack crew, etc. Yet also a great many companies (their individual emps) each purchased membership. Some memberships purchased are in memory of each fallen FF. It's moving to see that many purchased a membership in the memory of one FF alone. For the 2006 season they have currently 2,034 members. Please take a look, see the link below, to see if you may wish to join Wildland Firefighters Foundation...it's a worthy cause. Thank you! http://www.wffoundation.org/52club/memberarchive.html

N. Cal mourns as well October 31, 09:14 a.m. This is such a devestating act of cowardess. These brave men lost their lives so needlessly due to some sick individuals that get a kick out of starting fires. May the murdered Firefighters rest in peace and may your arsonist souls meet your judgement.. Northern Cal sends our deepest condolences to the families and friends of these brave men.

To a job well done October 30, 8:47 p.m. I just heard that the fire is 100% contained. You are to be once again commended on a job well done. You have had no easy task out there and there is still more to be done. I hope that everyone will be able to somehow cope with all of this devestation. It won't be easy by any means. I join my firefighter son and the rest of my family in sending our thoughts and prayers out to all of you who have been affected by this fire.

One Thing Further... October 30, 4:08 p.m. Even if no one else saw you do it... I guarantee you this: GOD Himself did!

To: The Arsonist (s) October 30, 2:42 p.m. I wondering if you are reading all the condolences, well wishes and prayers from people all across the states for those fallen/injured FF's. I feel such a great saddness for their families, that life will never be the same for them nor for the FF that holds burns over 90% of his body (per his father, 'all he ever wanted to do was be a firefighter just to help people'). Can you even begin to phathom the reckless sense this can never make, the bottomless pit of pain and suffering u caused to endless people by one moment of poor judgement? You have to face what you did. I feel badly for you as well & lighting a candle for you & the innocently removed of this life ...why? Because you are going to need it just as much, if not more than the others. The avalanche of damage you created has destroyed lives, property and you can't take it back if you tried. You have broken your mother's heart & she likely doesn't even know it yet. Yes, this is going to destroy your life too. Whether you turn yourself in or not; never to be the same. It's to the benefit of the fallen families if you do. If you don't your guilt will consume you alive in ways you never quite imagined before starting that fire. Do the right thing-come forward. It will save something of your self in the long run. You can't be able to sleep .. this suffering u caused has affected many being able to sleep well. Just what is it that makes people lapse in judgement? Why don't we all know not to play w/fire by now?

To: Jeff Hargiss, St. Louis, MO. October 30, 2:07 p.m. You are most welcome! Again, thank you for truly caring and not even being in this area! That is absolutely too perfectly wonderful! God Bless you & yours Jeff!

Mark was a great guy October 29, 07:35 a.m. I worked with Mark for three years on the Vista Grande Hot shots. What I remember the most was Mark as a dedicated and devoted father, he always had time for his kids. He never forgot to invite us over for softball games and picnics after work. He took the time to ask how my family was and had a great sense of humor. Mark was a seasoned fire fighter he never took chances with us as a crew. I will never forget what an impact he had on me. We will never forget him.

So Sorry October 28, 4:28 p.m. As I learned of the tragic loss of 4 of your firefighters from a fire that appears to have started because of stupidity I just want to say how sorry I am for this tragedy. It takes a special type of person to want to be a firefighter and help other people in their time of need. I was a call firefighter/ emergency medical technician for 28 1/2 years. Although I did not know any of these gentlemen I still feel a sense of loss with their passing. May all of the famlies and friends of these gentlemen find the strength to get thru this very tragic time.

PLEASE DONATE SOMETHING TO ASSIST THE FAMILIES OF THE 4 FALLEN FIREFIGHTERS October 27, 10:34 p.m. Their families already have tremendous grief over their losses, they shouldn't have to suffer financially as well. Their husbands, sons, brothers paid the ultimate sacrifice trying to save a structure (doing their jobs). A home can be rebuilt in time, but they themselves can never be replaced. Please give whatever you can to help. Whether it's $5.00 or greater everyone can surely give up something they purchase for enjoyment. Those FF's LOST THEIR VERY LIVES! What are their families to do w/out them now? If every household could spare $5.00 & we know the majority can. Say if 45,000 desert households contributed that's $225,000.00. If you think you can't, just put yourself in their shoes. What if it was your father, your son, or your brother lost & your mother left having to shoulder raising kids alone? In time many are going to forget this happened, going on w/their lives, but these families will carry this loss for a lifetime. Do what u can & challenge others too. This loss is horrific whether you know them or not. The person or person(s) responsible need to come forward & admit it on their own so that $500,000.000 pledged to find the arsonist could be better spent by being given directly to the families of the fallen/injured FF's instead. Donation address listed below was posted on KESQ 3: ESPERANZA FIREFIGHTING ASSISTANCE FUND P.O. BOX 1645 RIVERSIDE, CA 92502 God Bless all that cared, prayed & gave. Pray for the safety of those still fighting it.

Dedicated to the Firefighting Heroes Who Walked Among Us October 27, 7:20 p.m.
Yesterday I walked among you In my daily tasks I strived I worked, I dreamed, I hoped I laughed, I loved, I cried I knew the shelter of hug The pleasure of a kiss I’d felt deep pain and sorrow I’d known pure joy and bliss Good games, good times and good friends Cool drinks in a hot summer sun Little goals, big plans for the future Days of leisure, nights filled with fun Yesterday I walked among you But today I’m walking in spirit And I’m whispering that I love you Open your heart and you will hear it With comrades great and brave I have fought my final fight Regretting only the time we’ll be apart Until you join me in the light I know the sense of a job well done And now have a peace beyond compare I did my part as a member of my team Sacrificing that others may be spared Yesterday I walked among you And I’m truly with you still In your heart and memories I remain And promise I always will

I am like a star.... October 27, 5:33 p.m. Hugs and words are not strong enough to take away the sorrow felt by the loved ones of our fallen firefighters. You just have to know that you are not alone! God's angels have taken possession of our heroes and filled them with love and peace. Sometimes God's Blessings com in painful disguises...Those we love don't go away....They walk beside us everyday and when you miss me the most, just look up to the night sky and remember....I am like a star, someties you can't see me, but I am always there.

BEYOND SORROW AND GRIEF October 27, 3:59 p.m. There are no words I can think of to describe my sorrow and grief for the families who lost their loved ones who committted thier lives to protecting people like me and our properties. I am humbled by their greatest of the great sacrifices and shall forever be indebted to them and their families through my committment to always vote in favor of any increases in property taxes and assessments to train and hire more fire personnel locally and throughout the State, purchase more fire safety equipment, pay higher salaries and provide greater benefits for fire fighters, and last but not least to provide for the well being of the surviving loved ones of these fallen American heroes.

For their families, their friends, and their fire brothers I offer my sympathy and prayers as they travel through this terrible time. Thank you... October 27, 12:57 p.m. I am not eloquent enough to express the depth of my feelings right now. I am grateful for the firefighters and humbled by their courageous natures. I am heart-broken for the family, friends and communities of Mark Loutzenhiser, Jess McLean, Jason McKay, Daniel Hoover-Najera, and Pablo Cerda. I am forever touched by the sacrifice these brave men made trying to save my community. I am praying Pablo Cerda receives a miracle and lives to be honored the way every firefighter should be. I am outraged and horrified by the thought that someone deliberately set out to cause massive destruction with this fire. I am saddened for the families who lost their homes and animals. My thoughts are with every person displaced by this fire. I am affected. Mostly though, I am reminded to value my place in this community. My home is in Banning off San Gorgonio Avenue & Ramsey Street. My daughters school is in Banning. My family all lives here, I shop, eat out, buy gas, get my hair done...I LIVE in this community. And I get to live here safely today because of the firefighters battling this raging fire. My heart is forever grateful to every one of you. My dad works at Silent Valley RV Park and he was kept there overnight. A co-worker's parents were camping there and were trapped, as well. They all made it down the mountain safely this morning. THANK YOU to the fire crews who kept them safe. I will never forget your bravery and I'm sorry for the loss of your fallen brothers. Stay safe.

Correction October 27, 11:56 a.m. Please disregard the statement about ARCO. It was another gas station where this happened. I do apologize for the mistake.

Prayers First... October 27, 11:39 a.m. For the firefighters and their families. Words just don't express the feeling of all they're doing and all they are facing. We are praying for each of you. Shame on ARCO in Banning for putting up a fuss for a credit card from firefighters before turning on the pumps for the fire trucks. They turned them on and got a ticket. There is thick smoke at the bottom of the mountain in Banning now...looks like behind the high school area and to the left of Dysart Esq. Park.

Fire is tough business! October 26, 3:31 p.m. I was on the Vista Grand Hot Shot Crew, that is located right of Poppet Flats on Hwy 243. Our training grounds were the area that is now being consumed by wildfire. The area is extremely rocky, and is filled with manzanita, the most popular fuel in these fires. The area is around 4000-5000 ft in elevation, where fog and wind pass right through it. Their are not many fire-related deaths in the forest service. The latest trajedy that resulted in four fighfighter deaths, will likely be the focus of fire fighter training modules for years to come. Truth be known, you can never be totally prepared for wildland fire-fighter when your up against a nemesis unique to california, the Santa Ana winds.
