The Coachella Valley Economic Partnership can assist businesses looking to relocate with various incentive packages. CVEP can also direct relocating businesses to select federal, state and local economic incentives available to attract new jobs, investment and development.

Incentive Zones

The Coachella Valley is the only region in the nation that offers companies a Federal Empowerment Zone, a Federal Foreign Trade Zone and a State Enterprise Zone providing companies the following:

Desert Cities Empowerment Zone
Coachella Valley Enterprise Zone
Foreign Trade Zone

Financial

The Coachella Valley Enterprise Zone extends from Thousand Palms, Indio and Coachella into the unincorporated Riverside County communities of Thermal, Mecca and Oasis. Interstate 10, Union Pacific Railroad, Highway 111 and Highway 86 traverses the area.

Enterprise Zone advantages & incentives include:
  • Firms can earn $26,894 or more in state tax credits for each qualified employee hired.
  • Corporations can earn sales tax credits on purchases of $20 million per year of qualified machinery and machinery parts.
  • Up to 100 percent Net Operating Loss (NOL) carry-forward. NOL may be carried forward 15 years.
  • Up-front expensing of certain depreciable property.
  • Lenders to Zone businesses may receive a net interest deduction.
  • Unused tax credits can be applied to future tax years, stretching out the benefit of the initial investment.
  • Enterprise Zone companies can earn preference points on state contracts.
